ABOUT ULUSABA ROCK LODGE :  Perched high on the summit of a Ulusaba Mountain, 800m above sea level is Ulusaba Rock Lodge, where spectacular views over miles of prime game rich reserve with grassy plains and acacias are found at every turn.  The original lodge burned down when struck by lightning, and was rebuilt by Sir Richard Branson when he bought the Ulusaba Game Reserve in 1999. 

ACCOMMODATION :  Accommodation at Ulusaba Rock Lodge comprises of the two new Makwela Suites, four Rock Cliff Rooms, and a stunning stand alone, split level Master Suite, which is guaranteed to bring out the romantic in the most hardened soul. The Rock Suite which comprises of two bedrooms, each with full en-suite bathroom, is ideal for those wishing to bring little cubs of their own.  All rooms are impeccably appointed with hand crafted beds and furnishings, the finest African linens and the most luxurious touches.  The en-suite bathrooms are equipped with romantic baths, indoor and outdoor showers.  All rooms have secluded decks overlooking the game reserve far below, and the two Makwela suites have their own infinity plunge pools.  The rooms are all equipped with telephones, hairdryers, international adapters, air-conditioning and fans, tea & coffee making facilities and fully stocked complimentary mini bars, with a range of drinks and snacks.   The suites have CD players with surround sound and a selection of the latest CDs, binoculars, birding and wildlife books, a lounge and a study with internet access.  Many extras are complimentary, such as Virgin products, sunscreens, robes & slippers and more.

LODGE FACILITIES :  Ulusaba Rock lodge has an impressive main building which houses the lounge, dining room, bar, main sun deck and reception.   There is an a beautiful infinity swimming pool with a deck for sunbathing with a stunning rock waterfall to the lower pool deck.   The lodge is equipped with the 'Aroma Boma' a beauty and wellness centre with a wide range of treatments offered by a Virgin Touch technician, two tennis courts which are served by their own bar for the most social of games, as well as a fully equipped gymnasium.  There is a well-stocked library, a music room, many DVDs on offer to watch in the TV area, as well as a large variety of board games, so there is never any shortage of activities available at the lodge when you are between game walks and drives. 

DINING : The internationally renowned chefs at Ulusaba Rock Lodge have created and improved a vast repertoire of exquisite dishes, influenced by many cultures, flavours and spices.  The wines and accompaniments are perfectly chosen to complement the meals served by well trained staff.  Meals are taken either in the boma around the fire under the African starlit skies, or out on the deck, or in the enclosed dining room depending on the weather.  Meals are a social time, and very often a revelation as the local Shangaan staff tell their African legends and impart knowledge.  All dietary requirements are catered to and guests only need to ask.

ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE : At Ulusaba Rock Lodge, the morning and evening safaris are conducted by experienced and knowledgeable guides and trackers who, and game walks are offered every day after breakfast.  There is a large array of activities available, such as fishing at the local dam, visiting the local Shangaan village, a visit to a local animal orphanage where guests may get up close and personal to the younger animals, a tour of the local breeding projects, tours to Sudwala caves or a crocodile reptile park, Pilgrims Rest, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window, etc.   At Rock lodge, babysitting is available for those with children too young to join the game drives and activities by dedicated staff.
