Pilanesberg Game Reserve Pilanesberg Game reserve is situated near to Sun City and the Lost City on the border of the North-West Province and Limpopo Province. The reserve contains the Big 5 with a healthy population of lions, elephants, rhino, buffalo and leopard, as well as a large variety of mammals and a bird list of over 360 species. Other notable mammal species include brown hyena, cheetah, sable and hippo. The reserve is officially the 4th largest in South Africa covering 55,000 hectares and is in a malaria free zone. There are a handful of lodges and hotels in Pilanesberg, which offer accommodation ranging from standard hotel odgings to superior exclusive luxury, and therefore a wide variety of tastes are catered for.
