Zuleika Country house is only half an hour away from the Kruger Park's Orpen gate, and lies at the foot of the Blyde River Canyon, recognised as one of South Africa's premier beauty spots.  The lodge is located on the R531 between Diphuti, Hoedspruit and The Madrid Game Farm (see map and find hotspot) and is within easy reach of the Hoedspruit Eastgate airport. 

Zuleika consists of thatched buildings and a landscaped garden which are located within citrus and mango estates in peaceful settings.  The complex has many indigenous trees which play host to many of the 200 bird species found in this area. 

Accommodation consists of 7 spacious air-conditioned guest rooms, each of which has an en-suite bathroom (some with shower, some with bath and shower), satellite TV, kingsize beds and high ceilings with fans.  Each room has stable doors opening onto the garden and / or canyon views.  Two of the guest rooms are suitable for families with children with self catering facilities and are separated from the others. 

The main building features local art and there are also curios available to buy.  The comfortable bar opens out onto the terrace which has a unique and dramatic lookout of the Drakensberg canyon cliffs and which is a favoured place to enjoy a canle-lit dinner.  There is a huge elevated pool with views towards the canyon and deck chairs for lounging and tanning alongside.  There is also a secluded lapa where guests can prepare their own BBQ.

Zuleika Country House is situated to benefit from many local attractions.  Some of these include the Swadini Reptile Park, Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre which features regularly on the Discovery Channel, the Kapama Cheetah farm, and the White Lion breeding project.  Other possibilities include golf, hot air balloon rides, game drives in the local reserves or Kruger National Park, or a visit to the historical town of Pilgrim's Rest.  Bird watchers have ample opportunities to 'twitch'.  A path will take you to the river within 7 minutes and on this short trip it is possible to see not only many bird species but also crocodile and hippo.  Fish eagles, louries and hornbills are also regular sightings.
