Perfect for the sole use of a group or family of up to six guests, Uplands Homestead is situated half an hour from Heatherton Towers (Kwandwe’s reception building) and 45 minutes from Main Lodge. Antiques and memorabilia reminiscent of an 1820s Settler home elegantly blend with comfortable, modern finishes. The well-maintained gardens blend in with with the surrounding valley making for scenic wilderness adventures.

KWANDWE UPLANDS HOMESTEAD FACILITIES : There are large and spacious sitting and dining areas with high ceilings, wooden floors and beautiful fireplaces. There is a deep and shady veranda which leads out to a large sparkling swimming pool and outside gazebo. There is a modernised farm kitchen where Uplands Homestead's private chef prepares delicious Pan-African cuisine and various local specialtities. There is a bar in the guest lounge, and a telephone for use of guests. Guests at Uplands have their own 4x4 vehicle, tracker and ranger for a personalised African safari holiday. Babysitting is available.

LUXURY ACCOMMODATION : There are 3 spacious bedrooms with twin beds, all convertible to double beds. Two of the en-suite bathrooms have ball & claw baths, whilst the other has an oval stone bath, a kitchen at Uplands Homestead

nd all have luxury touches. There are also indoor showers. The rooms have hairdryers, in room safes, and are air-conditioned with heating systems for winter. The furnishings are of the highest quality, as are the coverings and sheets and blend antiques with many modern touches for the ultimate in comfort.

ACTIVITIES FROM KWANDWE UPLANDS HOMESTEAD : Morning, afternoon/evening and night game-drives in private open game viewing vehicle, guided walking, bush sundowners and picnics on the Reserve, fishing, rhino and buffalo tracking, visits to hides, archaeological, battlefield and historical tours to Grahamstown and surroundings. Other activities include Pioneer Cultural evenings and storytelling with Kwandwe’s resident historian, and bush breakfasts/dinners – weather permitting. Scenic coastal flights can also be arranged. Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on game drives, but babysitting facilities are offered at Uplands Homestead.
