ABOUT KWANDWE MAIN LODGE : Overlooking the Great Fish River, and situated in a big 5 South Africa private game reserve, Kwandwe Main Lodge is masterfully contoured to blend with the magnificent landscape. Kwandwe Main Lodge is a stylishly furnished Safari Lodge in Frontier Settler style, integrating the local African culture with colonial settler history. KWANDWE MAIN LODGE FACILITIES : There is a large guest lounge with a large fireplace with massive stone chimney, and a soaring thatched roof with imposing chandeliers. The elegant glass fronted sitting and dining areas boast expanisve viewing decks with stunning river views. The bar and dining room also have fireplaces. The lodge has a gift gallery, swimming pool, outdoor dining boma and candlelit dining room, all adding to the ambiance of your African safari experience. The wine cellar contains a variety of wines for the connoisseur.

MAIN LODGE ROOMS : There are 9 air-conditioned suites at Kwandwe Main Lodge with heating for winter, luxury en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, decadent baths, twin basins and a separate w.c. The bathrooms have expansive views of the reserve. The rooms are luxuriously fitted with the finest linens and earth toned coverings and timber furniture, and additional comforts such as tea & coffee making facilities, a mini bar, and a portable phone for room service. Each suite has a private river deck with its own indulgent plunge pool with views over the river.

ACTIVITIES : Morning, afternoon/evening and night game-drives in open game viewing vehicles, guided walking and canoeing, bush sundowners and picnics on the Reserve, fishing, rhino and buffalo tracking, visits to hides, archaeological, Battlefield and Historical Tours to Grahamstown and surroundings. Other activities include Pioneer Cultural evenings and storytelling with Kwandwe’s resident historian and bush breakfasts/dinners – weather permitting. Coastal flights can also be arranged. Kwandwe’s night-drives are renowned – aardvark and aardwolf are regularly seen – and guests have the option to stay out all night, enjoying a starlit picnic en route.
