Hluhluwe Game Reserve and
Umfolozi Game Reserve have been combined into one large reserve,
which is widely known as the best park for Big 5 game viewing in
KwaZulu-Natal. The reserve has a large variety of
accommodation on offer, with Hilltop Camp, Munyawaneni & Muntulu
Bush Lodges in the Hluhluwe section, and Mpila Camp, Nselweni
Camp, Gqoyeni and Hlathikhulu bush lodges in the Umfolozi
section.
It is easiest for the visitor to
have the accommodation categorised into CATERED FOR and
SELF-CATERING MPILA & SELF-CATERING HILLTOP accommodation. |

Chalets at Hilltop
Camp with tea & coffee facilities. Meals are taken at the
restaurant at Hilltop (either am or pm). Flexible Options
available to include meals and game drives. |
| Game
drives will be conducted in an open game viewing vehicle with a
park game guard. Transfers to and from the lodges can be
arranged with local tour operators. |
Guests staying in the Bush Lodges
and the Hilltop chalets should still have their own
vehicle to conduct their own game drives during daylight hours
as the reserve is a self-drive reserve. Morning and
evening drives can be arranged from Hilltop Camp for those
staying in the chalets. Private night drives in an open
vehicle can sometimes be arranged for those in the Bush Camps,
depending on Hilltop & Mpila camp managers.
Please note that NO GUEST is permitted to drive after dark, and
this is strictly enforced for the safety of guests and the
wildlife in the park. |
