ABOUT VUYATELA Vuyatela is one of three lodges inside the Djuma Game Reserve, part of the greater Sabi Sand reserve and bordering the Kruger National Park. Vuyatela has a cultural theme running through the architecture and activities, with amazing African art and where guests can relax in luxury constructed skillfully from corrugated iron and mud with an authentic effect.  Vuyatela is the perfect getaway for couples, groups and families with children.

GUEST AREAS Vuyatela Main lodge has a large double deck for game and bird viewing, outdoor dining boma, a guest lounge, dining room and wine cellar. A bar overlooks the watering hole whilst there is an indigenous fish aquarium and a suspended bird-watching tower. Vuyatela contains an internet library with detailed wildlife websites. There is also a relaxation room and a gym for the more energetic of guests.

VUYATELA SUITES Each of the 8 chalets or Kayas are secluded and are a series of adjoining buildings; the private lounge is separated from the bedroom by a beautiful Teak deck. These large suites are individually decorated and include a luxury bedroom, dressing room, luxury bathroom with bath, indoor and outdoor shower, a lounge and a private viewing deck with its own plunge pool.  Each suite has air-conditioning and overhead fans, luxurious beds with mosquito nets and are equipped with a telephone and bar fridge.

FINE DINING  Full breakfasts, lunch and afternoon tea with fresh bakes are provided daily. Dinners at Vuyatela are special affairs with five star cuisine. Classic South African dishes are skilfully prepared with the emphasis on quality ingredients and impressive but simple presentation, coordinated with fine wines.

WILDLIFE ACTIVITIES Morning and evening game drives with experienced game rangers and trackers through the Djuma road network are standard daily activities. Guests can also choose to take part in the daily guided bush walk where one can learn about the ecology of the area and see the myriad smaller lifeforms that live in the reserve. Daily tours to the nearby Shangaan village are conducted where local customs and traditions are still observed.

HEALTH & COMFORT :  Djuma Game reserve is in a malaria area and malaria tablets are recommended all year round (Please consult your doctor).  Comfortable light clothing, walking shoes, sun hats, sunglasses, sun-block, insect repellent and bathing suits.  During wintertime it is still warm during the day but it can become very cold on the game drives and at night.  It is advisable to bring warm insulated jackets.  Don’t forget camera, spare film and binoculars.
