With savannah, mountainous and wetland regions, Amazulu Private
reserve is the ideal home to the "Big Five" as well as giraffe,
warthog and hyena not to mention over 15 different antelope
species, hippopotamus and crocodile. There are over 400
species of birds making this a spectacular place for a wildlife
getaway. |

Lodge |
Set
in beautiful park like surrounds alongside the Mkuze River, the
central lodge is a relaxing haven from the hot Zululand sun.
The lodge contains a dining room, lounge and bar and there is
also a dining boma for AmaKhosi’s dinners under the stars.
There is also a library, swimming pool and game viewing deck
overlooking the Mkuze River. |

magnificent River Suites
situated
alongside the flowing Mkuze
River. These regal suites are fit for a king with high thatched
ceilings and glass walls giving fantastic river views. Each
suite boasts separate air-conditioned bedroom and lounge with
fully stocked mini bar and tea/coffee facilities.
The large en-suite bathroom with a unique bath made for two is
decorated with an array of candles and bath salts allowing
decadence to take on a whole new meaning and bringing
tranquillity and serenity as well as a touch of romance to your
safari experience. |

Fishing can be arranged from the lodge on arrival. |

Getting there |
By road
: Travel from Johannesburg on the N4 and then the N11 to Ermelo.
Join the N2 at Piet Rietief and continue to Pongola (+/- 4
hours). From Durban travel north on the N2 to Pongola. (+/- 3
hours). From Pongola, travel on R66 to Nongoma. Continue for
+/- 22 kms past Magudu sign on left. Turn right at R69 towards
Vryheid and continue for 2kms. Follow the AmaKhosi Lodge signs,
turning left down a gravel road. It will take +/- 30 minutes
from Pongola. |

Bring |
KwaZulu-Natal is a low risk malaria area. Malaria prophylactics
are not necessary, but it is advisable to use a mosquito
repellent on exposed skin and wear long sleeved clothing at dawn
and dusk. Warm clothing for winter game drives is essential. It
is advisable to bring a good pair of walking shoes and a sun
hat. Don't forget your camera, binoculars and plenty of spare
film. |

There is a sofa bed in the lounge which will be made up
for children.
AmaKhosi can also supply a cot if necessary but must be
booked in advance.
Babysitting can be arranged. Regret children under 8
are not permitted on regular game drives. |
